Environmental Aspects At Norpe

During the past year we have worked hard to reduce the harmful environmental impacts arising from our operations. We recycle the waste from our daily work as much as we can. We recycle e.g. metal, cardboard, paper and plastic. Our aim is to reduce the amount of mixed waste, which usually is taken to the dumping ground. In the coming autumn we start to utilize mixed waste as energy waste and reduce the waste load to dumping ground to almost nil.

During several years we have participated in a Finnish project called MOTIVA, where we together with other Finnish companies look for energy saving solutions and commit to continuous improvement in the company's energy efficiency.

We have taken into consideration both national and international environmental legislation, which is constantly being changed. In the EU we perform according to WEEE and RoHS directives. WEEE directive obligates us as a manufacturer to take care of the product's / cabinet's disposal for the customer. Due to this we have made co-operation agreements with the local industrial recyclers. RoFS directive is focusing on reducing the materials used in products that are harmful to health and environment. In order to be sure that our cabinets meet the RoHS requirements, we had one of our cabinet models tested in an independent laboratory.

To support all this, we have built an environmental management system according to ISO 14001:2004 standards within which our performance is consistent and systematic.
